ABOUT THE JOB
CarbonBuilt addresses climate change by permanently and cost-effectively storing CO₂ in concrete. Our innovative Reversa technology was awarded the grand prize in the NRG COSIA Carbon XPRIZE competition in 2021, and we are presently focused on making the leap from two successful pilot demonstrations to our first commercial plant. As we prepare for our commercial introduction, CarbonBuilt is seeking a laboratory and field technician to join our rapidly growing team.
Working out of our Los Angeles laboratory, you will work directly with CarbonBuilt’s engineering team to prepare, test and validate innovative concrete formulations using industry standard test methods. You will also assist with testing of materials and finished products at project sites.
Prepare concrete/mortar/paste mixtures at lab scale
Evaluate properties (e.g. compressive strength) of fresh and hardened concrete samples in the laboratory and field
Travel to project sites. This could include early morning, evening and weekend work as appropriate (for up to 2-3 months per year; e.g. 4-6 2-week trips)
Maintain & calibrate testing equipment
Other duties as assigned by Head of Engineering
At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in or with:
Sampling and testing concrete and constituent materials in the laboratory
Field testing of concrete products (note: desirable, but not necessary)
ACI/NRMCA certifications (note: desirable, but not necessary)
Maintaining accurate records
Operation of jobsite tools (note: desirable, but not necessary)
Familiarity with industry standards and test methods
Competent in MS Office and/or Google Suite tools

Salary: $55,000 - $80,000 a year
