Mechanical Engineer
LOS ANGELES, CA / FULL TIME
ABOUT THE JOB
You will be a core member of the engineering team to assist and complete retrofits and installation of equipment for the successful carbonation curing of novel concrete mixtures at concrete plant sites. As a Mechanical Engineer, you are expected to be proficient in design and analysis principles, processes, and tools with experience in system scale-up, engineering, fabrication, installation, and piping system ideally related to gas processing. This position will report to CarbonBuilt’s Head of Engineering.
Experience in:
-
B.S. or M.S. in mechanical engineering plus seven years of relevant professional experience
-
Mechanical and piping system design from concept to fabrication/installation for gas processing,
-
P&ID, PFD, piping design and sizing,
-
Mechanical equipment such as rotating equipment (blowers, pumps, etc.), heat exchangers, and flow controllers and valves
-
Field system inspection and factory acceptance testing (FAT),
-
Software such as AutoCAD, Plant3D, or similar for design drawings,
-
Assessment of vendor BOM for design adequacy, and
-
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Responsibilities:

Interfacing and collaborating with clients, vendors, and contractors to provide cost-effective and coordinated solutions,

Supporting fabrication including acceptance testing and inspection,
-
Developing piping diagrams and sizing,
-
Developing site layout and engineering specifications for gas processing system in collaboration with the Process Engineer,
-
Supporting system installation and operation at customer locations,
-
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals and support production,
-
Traveling to customer and vendor locations, and
-
Additional duties as assigned.
