ABOUT THE JOB

The grand prize winner in 2021’s Carbon XPRIZE competition, CarbonBuilt addresses climate change by dramatically reducing the carbon footprint of concrete, the world’s most voluminous man-made material and a significant contributor of carbon emissions. We accomplish this using an approach that is capital light, highly profitable and highly scalable. CarbonBuilt team members will have the opportunity to make a global and long-lasting impact on the defining challenge of our time – climate change. As we prepare for commercial introduction later this year, CarbonBuilt is seeking a project manager to join our rapidly growing team.

You will work directly with CarbonBuilt’s engineering and execution teams to oversee the construction and commissioning of concrete plant retrofits and/or greenfield concrete masonry plants. The ideal candidate will provide support for  equipment installation, field operations/project executions in collaboration with contractors at project sites. This position will initially report to CarbonBuilt’s Director of Mechanical Engineering.

 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience in oil/gas, refinery, or petro/chem industries (concrete product manufacturing is preferred, but not essential)

  • Repeated success (i.e., met performance objectives on time and within budget) managing multi-million dollar industrial projects from start to finish)

  • Ability to travel to project sites to work with contractors and supervise projects for weeks at a time (up to four months per year)

  • Functional knowledge of engineering contracts, equipment drawings, and engineering documents (PFD, P&ID) 

  • Ability to manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously (at least 3 concurrent projects)

  • Experience in creating  project documents, RFQ/RFI, scope of work documents, equipment specifications, contract agreements

  • Highly organized, collaborates effectively, communicates clearly, and drives progress

  • Excellent writing and communication skills

 

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule, supervise, and monitor performance of internal resources and third parties (vendors and contractors)

  • Travel to project sites to provide field supervision/inspection and help resolve site construction/project installation challenges 

  • Conduct job walks and site measure to prepare and modify project drawings and piping design

  • Inspect equipment installation and perform operation, testing, trouble shooting, and inspection 

  • Prepare cost proposals, RFI, scopes of work, installation, operation & maintenance manuals

  • Procure gas handling equipment such as valves, sensors/instruments, pipes/ducts, heaters, blowers, condensers, HVAC

  • Effectively communicate all aspects of the project internally and externally as required

  • Adapt to unplanned changes swiftly and pragmatically

  • Collaborate with business development colleagues on feasibility studies, cost proposals, and contract execution

  • Represent CarbonBuilt in meetings with any and all project stakeholders as required
