ABOUT THE JOB

The grand prize winner in 2021’s Carbon XPRIZE competition, CarbonBuilt addresses climate change by dramatically reducing the carbon footprint of concrete, the world’s most voluminous man-made material and a significant contributor of carbon emissions. We accomplish this using an approach that is capital light, highly profitable and highly scalable. CarbonBuilt team members will have the opportunity to make a global and long-lasting impact on the defining challenge of our time – climate change. As we prepare for commercial introduction later this year, CarbonBuilt is seeking a project manager to join our rapidly growing team.

You will work directly with CarbonBuilt’s engineering and supply chain teams to implement the construction and commissioning of concrete plant retrofits and/or greenfield concrete masonry plants. The ideal candidate seeks ownership of timelines, partner relations, and possesses a proven track record of successful project implementation. They will ensure exemplary management of project schedules, budgets, resource allocation, documentation, and field operations/project executions in collaboration with contractors at project sites.

 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience (concrete product manufacturing is preferred, but not essential)

  • Repeated success (i.e., met performance objectives on time and within budget) managing multi-million dollar industrial projects from start to finish

  • Ability to travel to project sites to work with contractors and supervise projects for weeks at a time (up to four months per year)

  • Functional knowledge of engineering contracts, drawings, and engineering specifications

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously (at least 3 concurrent projects)

  • Highly organized, collaborates effectively, communicates clearly, and drives progress

  • Experience creating and negotiating project requirements documents, equipment specifications  and contract agreements

  • Competency with project management best practices and emerging software tools

  • Thorough knowledge of project delivery, including contract management, raw material planning, equipment optimization, risk/change management, and vendor negotiation

  • Execellent writing and communication skills

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage multi-million dollar industrial projects from start to finish,  ensuring that all projects are delivered on-time and within budget

  • Monitor and track project progress and ensure that projects are delivered on schedule

  • Schedule, supervise, and monitor performance of internal resources and third parties (vendors and contractors)

  • Travel to project sites to provide field supervision/inspection and help resolve site construction/project installation challenges 

  • Oversee contractors at project sites, inspect project installation, and support startup and commissioning

  • Prepare scope of work, RFI, bid solicitation, bid review, and negotiation with contractors

  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation

  • Foresee and manage project risksEffectively communicate all aspects of the project internally and externally as required

  • Adapt to unplanned changes swiftly and pragmatically

  • Collaborate with business development colleagues on feasibility studies and contract execution

  • Represent CarbonBuilt in meetings with any and all project stakeholders as required
